Many companies have begun to explore cloud-based services to move their operations to the cloud. These services are a great way to save time and money. From scalability to the ability to quickly find necessary data across different systems, cloud-based solutions offer many benefits. In this blog we’ll look at three different types of cloud-based services: SaaS, PaaS, and Iaas.  Each type offers its own set benefits depending on what kind of company you have.

SaaS- Software as a Service

Today, SaaS is the most common cloud service. It is the service that companies and organizations rely on to do most of their work. SaaS products include applications for a daily use. Specifically, a software application is hosted on a cloud server and is usually managed by a third-party service provider. Users access this application through a web browser. There is no need to download software to a device. Moreover, updates are done automatically. Think of Dropbox or Slack as some of the few examples of SaaS products. This type of cloud service is excellent for the development of desktop and mobile applications. In addition, it is ideal for businesses that want to use cloud services efficiently and hope to avoid spending too much time dealing with server maintenance.

PaaS- Platform as a Service

Platform as a Service allows businesses to use specific platforms to develop and deploy their applications. More specifically, PaaS platforms maintain a complete infrastructure, including servers, storage capacity, network, development tools, and data management resources. The complexity of PaaS solution allows it to support web applications, from their initial building stages to their maintenance and updating. Consequently, PaaS is an excellent choice for companies that want to create exciting and advanced applications. Developers are provided with excellent resources and tools to do their work. In addition, PaaS allows companies to avoid excessive spending on software development, licenses, and maintenance. While businesses focus on developing and enhancing their applications, cloud service providers take care of all other needs. Google App Engine and Heroku are examples of PaaS products.

IaaS- Infrastructure as a Service

IaaS allows organizations to rent servers and data storage in the cloud server. This eliminates the need for organizations to develop and maintain their server and storage infrastructure.  In short, IaaS is a perfect solution for businesses that want to manage the databases and applications they use and their server, networks, and storage spaces they rent from the cloud. Some of IaaS examples include Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud.
